The dialectic of digital technology: between formation and forgetfulness

The aim of this paper is to revisit elements of the work of the first generation Frankfurt School authors, which allow us to identify the relevance of the concept of the dialectic of enlightenment from the point of view of understanding the formation processes of the so-called digital age. From this perspective, what characterizes the current social order is the contradiction between maintaining a certain mode of forgetfulness through forms that, on the contrary, announce the promise of non-forgetfulness deeply linked to the processing capacity of the technologies that are increasingly inserted into individuals' lives. The idea is to think about how new technologies relate to the tendency to move away from what concerns the living nature of culture, pointing to the maintenance of a dialectic between technological advance and social imprisonment.
