- The texts can be written in Portuguese, Spanish, French or English.

Thus, the translations must preserve the contents of the abstract, but also adapt itself to the grammatical style of language used. Polis and Psyche has as a standard procedure, perform a final review of the abstracts, therefore, reserving the right to conduct minor corrections on them, if necessary. Remember, the abstract is a very important tool of your work, since it will be available in all the journal's indexers. At the end of the abstract, three to five keywords should be listed (lowercase and separated by semicolons).

E. Main manuscript (Body of the text): It is not necessary write the title of the manuscript on this page. The subsections of the text do not start on a new page (follow in sequence) and their titles should be centered with the first letter of each word capitalized (e.g., Results, Method and Discussion). The subheadings of subsections should be writing in italics with the first letter of each word capitalized (e.g., subsection of Methods:  Participants, Conclusions, etc.).

Underlining, italic and Bold: Underline words or phrases that should be emphasized in the printed text, for example, "loanwords" as “self”, “locus”, and so on, as well as the words you want to highlight. Do not use italic (except where required by the publication policies), bold, watermarks or other resources that can make the text visually attractive, mainly because they usually cause major problems for editing.

Always give credit to the authors of the publication mentioned during your study. All author's names whose works were cited must be followed by the publication date, as well as all  the mentioned references should be listed at the References section.

F. Attachments: Avoid them. They should only be included if their information are considered indispensable. Attachments must be presented each on in a new page. They should be well indicated in the text and presented at the end of the manuscript, identified in capital letters (A, B, C, and so on), if they are more than one.

G. Endnotes: they also should be avoided whenever possible. However, if there is no other possibility, they should be indicated by Arabic numerals in the text and presented after the attachments. The title of the notes should appear centered. Additionally, indent the first line of each endnote at 1.25 cm and add the number according to their statements in the text.

H. Tables: should be prepared in Word (.doc, .docx) or Excel (.xls, .xlsx). Graphical presentations of tables must use preferably columns, avoiding other forms such as pizza, etc. Also, avoid using colors in these presentations. Each table begins on a separate page. The word "Table" should be aligned to the left in the first line below the title header, followed by the corresponding number. After a double-space, type the title of the table to the left, in italic and without end dot, watching for keep the first letter of each word capitalized. Only the first letter of the first word (and proper nouns) should be capitalized.

I. Figures: Should be presented in JPG format, on a separate sheet. They must not exceed 17.5 cm width by 23.5 cm length. After a double-space, type the title of the figure to the left, in italic and without end dot, watching for keep the first letter of each word capitalized. Only the first letter of the first word (and proper nouns) should be capitalized.

The words "Figure", "Table" and "Attachment" when appearing in the text should always be written with the first letter capitalized and must be followed by their respective numbers (Figures and Tables) or letters (Attachments). Applying of terms such as "the Table above" or "Figure below" should be avoided, because, in the process of editing their location can be changed. Polis and Psique policies do not include Charts or Graphics, only allowing Figures and Tables.

J. Examples of how to use the citations in the body of the manuscript:

The examples below help organize your manuscript, but certainly do not cover all the possibilities of citation in your research. Therefore, if necessary use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2001, 5th edition) to check the rules for other types of references.

- Citing an article with multiple authors:

            • Two author’s article: cite both names every time the article is referred in the text;

            • Article with three to five authors: cite all authors in the first time the the reference appears in the text, and, in the subsequent citations, include only the surname of the first author followed by "et al." and the publication's date, in case of being  the first citation in the paragraph;

            • Article with six or more authors: cite only the surname of the first author followed by "et al." and date. However, in the References section, the names of all the authors should be listed.

- Citation of old and/or reissued materials:

Use the following format: Author (original publication date/date of publication consulted).

- Secondary citation:

It occurs when a citation from an article is discussed in another publication consulted, without the use of the original publication. For example: "Piaget (1932, cited by Flavell, 1996) ..."In the reference section citing only the consulted (in this case, Flavell, 1996).

NOTE: Citations with less than 40 words should be incorporated into the paragraph of text in quotation marks. Citations with more than 40 words should appear without quotation marks in a paragraph, in block format, with each line indented five spaces from the left margin. Citations with more than 500 words, reproduction of one or more figures, tables or other illustrations must be accompanied by written permission from the copyright holder of the original work reproduced. The permission should be addressed to the author of the submitted work. The rights obtained secondarily will not be transferred under any circumstances. Direct citations must be used accurately, even if there are errors in the original. In this case, if there is a risk of confusing the reader, add the word [sic], underlined and in brackets, immediately after the error. Omission of material of an original source should be indicated by three dots (...).The insertion of materials, such as comments or observations, should be performed bracketed. The emphasis in one or more words should be done underlined, followed by [our emphasis].

Caution: do not use the terms cited, op. cit, id. ibid, and others. They are not part of the APA standards.

K. References

A new page should be used to begin the References section. The title must be centered, on the first line below the title header. Only the material consulted and cited in the body of the text should appear in this section. This section also is formatted in double spacing, do not leaving extra spaces between citations.

The references should be listed in alphabetically, by author's surname, according to the APA style (see the examples below). Use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2001, 5th edition) to check the rules not mentioned here.

In cases of multiple references, from the same author, use the chronological order, e.g., start with the first and finish with the last study of this author. Author's name should not be replaced by dashes.
