Researching “Within the Embrace” Old Ages, Feminisms, and Memory Politics

In this article, the memory is the primary material of the research process. In it, the researcher sends letters to her grandmother, Aurora, an old woman resident of Queimados, a small farm located in the rural area of the Alagoas forest zone. From the researcher’s memory work – her wanderings trough the interior, the smell of candies in the small store, the bougainvillea flowers – she connects herself with the memories, less accessible now, from the grandmother who experiences an insanity associated with Parkinson. A memorialistic network arises in the intertwine of memories: the researcher’s, the grandmother’s and the female interlocutors’ of the research. The bet on this text lies in the gesture of memory and writing decolonization, so close to the feminisms, which invest in the production of counter-fictions responsible for misaligning the normativities of life.
