Dinâmicas atencionais nas práticas de estudo com smartphone: observações preliminares

Authors

Abstract

The development of new digital technologies such as smartphones has transformed study practices today. The article aims to analyze the study of academic texts by university students using the smartphone and highlight their effects on the dynamics of attention. We take as a reference the studies of Hayles (2010, 2007), Sancovschi (2010) and Dadico (2017) on the study through digital technologies, as well as the ecology of attention by Yves Citton (2014). We adopted as a method the observation of five university students during the study with smartphones, followed by interviews to analyze the experience. We conclude that the characteristics of the smartphone compete for a choppy study, marked by fragmentation and crossed by stimuli from messaging applications and social networks. Reading carried out in a multitasking ecology and between activities indicates a dispersed attention, which can produce in students the experience of an inconsistent study.
