Abstract

The article presents the notion of the body in the courses on nature that Merleau-Ponty gave at the 'Collège de France' between 1956 and 1960. In those courses, the philosopher examines the concept of nature in philosophy and science, the question of animality, and the transition to a culture and archeology of the human body. We note the displacement of his philosophy from a phenomenological description to the ontology of the wild being. In this notion, the idea of body acquires new contours in his thinking, expressing investigative horizons from contemporary philosophy to the study of corporeality and physical education.
