The number of open access journals has increased over the last few years and the Article Processing Charge has been the funding model adopted by some publishers. In this paper, we evaluate Brazilian policies on public funding for open access papers, implemented by 29 granting agencies. The data was collected through a questionnaire and the analysis of institutional websites. It appears that just a minority of the agencies has funding policies for open access publication. A reassessment of the Brazilian funding system and the creation of strategic policies are necessary.Downloads
