Press the subaltern classes: update and present a concept

The vitality or retrogression, the use or disuse of a concept depends on the political characteristics and of the socio-historical practices that gives it substance. The case of the concept of “subaltern press” is presented as typical to give support to this argument. This article aims to develop a reflection on all printed communication practices within the popular and communitarian communication, considering them the heirs of the tradition of the proletarian press, as well as, present the components present in the concept of “ press the subaltern press” that allows us to assert its relevance to establish a current analysis of the history of the entitled proletarian/labor press in Brazil.
