The User and public studies in Archival Science, in Library Science and in Museum Studies
Keywords:
Studies on the public. Studies about the subject.Abstract
Archival Science, Library Science and Museum Studies were constituted as scientific disciplines, at the end of the nineteenth century, from the consolidation of a custodial model and then with two perspectives: a functionalist and other critical. Subsequently, another research tradition developed: studies from the point of view of the subjects (users, public) that relate to the institutions archive, library, museum, and experiencing their spaces and use and interpret the contents of their collections . The aim of this paper is to analyze the development of this perspective in Archival Science, Library Science and Museum Studies, and advocate the importance of a greater dialogue between the findings of research conducted in this perspective in each of the three areas analyzed.Downloads
