Abstract

The 1970s represent the beginning of the consolidation process of talk show in the Brazilian television grid. Its relevance is associated with the fall of the military dictatorship and the redemocratization process in the country. Despite the historical importance of talk show, there is still little literature on such type of television show in Brazil. This article seeks to indicate paths toward defining the cultural history of Brazilian talk shows, taking into account three aspects: the social-cultural context, the context of television, and the formal structure of the shows.
