Abstract

The objective of this article is to examine the limits of discurses and aesthetics strategies of drag king, inspired by the butlerian theory of Gender Trouble. We emphasize the potential – but really problematic – risk of the stigmatization of the men from ethnic minorities and from poor populations inside some drag king acts. Finally, we call post-drag performances which talk about the intersectionnalities of gender, sexuality, race and class without reproducing stereotypes of white heterosexual supremacy.
