The reference place and the rigor of method in journalism: some considerations

Abstract

The aim of this paper consists in proposing some topics about journalism as a reference place and the consequent need of a rigorous investigation method. We try to analyze journalism as one of the central institutions in the orientation of the modern human being, as well as discuss the matter of journalistic investigation. Based on the theoretical references concerning cordiality, the pedagogical journalistic function, and the method of verification, selection and production of news, we try to point out some clues which indicate the changes that have occurred in the journalistic field in this first decade of 21st century.

Alfredo Eurico Vizeu, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco

Pp>Possui mestrado em Comunicação Social pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1997) e doutorado em Comunicação pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2002). Atualmente é vice-coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), membro do conselho científico da Sociedade Brasileira dos Pesquisadores em Jornalismo de 2004-2007, coordenador do gt de estudos de jornalismo da Associação Nacional de Programas de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação, 2006-2008, e conselheiro fiscal da Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos Interdisciplinares da Comunicação, 2006 a 2008. Prêmio Liderança Emergente da Intercom em 2007. Tem experiência na área de Comunicação, com ênfase em Jornalismo, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: imprensa, notícia, telejornalismo, estudos do jornalismo e ética. Exerceu atividade de jornalismo a partir de 1979 na TV Guaíba, TV Bandeirantes, Jornal Zero Hora, em Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul; TV Globo, São Paulo; TV Manchete e TV Bandeirantes, Rio de Janeiro; revistas Tela Viva e PayTV, como correspodente no Rio de Janeiro.
