Memories: the turn of the 60’s

Abstract

Commemorating the twentieth anniversary of the Graduate Program in Communication and Information of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the author gives a historical report involving two of it’s greatest memories. The first touches the satisfaction regarding the expansion of the researches in this area, as well as the professional improvement and academic qualification of the journalist. The second one regards the deference for graduating at the same university, despite the difficulties in legitimizing the profession and the education context alongside the politically unstable situation in Latin America, which the degree in Journalism gain during circumstances that would shook the country in the following decades. As graduated on March the 31th, 1964, the author has witnessed the evolution of education in Jornalism in the last fifty years, while praising the discovery of theoretical and practical models. During this process, she encountered the factors that handed her her professional and personal success, among which there were the family structuring and one of her most important achievements: the Projeto transdisciplinar Saber Plural – or Plural Knowledge Transdisciplinary Project, in English – coordinated by the author at the University of São Paulo School of Communications and Arts (ECA-USP).
