In a scenario marked by political and ideological polarization, how do audiences construct their understanding of the world, and what role does journalism play in this process? This is the theme of the book Journalism in a fractured world, by Scott A. Eldridge II, published in 2025 by Peter Lang, not yet translated into Portuguese. Focusing on the digital environment, the book discusses, based on democratic theories and Chantal Mouffe's concept of agonism, the journalistic metadiscourse of peripheral digital actors often contributes to strengthening polarizing discourses that deepen social divisions.
