The main objective of this article is wasis to perform anassess the economic feasibility analysis to evaluate the possibility of installing a rainwater harvesting system for non-potable water uses for a school located in Florianópolis at Senai, a school located in Florianópolis. First, information about on the building users, water flow rates, and water consumption were obtained. By interviewing samples of users, the the average daily mean daily amount of time and frequency of water use of water were determined for each plumbing fixture and activity. Such These data were used to estimate water end-uses in the building as well as the daily water consumption. By using tBased on Tthese data and using a the computer programme called Neptune computer software, were used to estimate, thethe rainwater tank size was estimated. was estimated. The potential Potential for potable water savings was were estimated at in 45.9%. By surveying local stores, the total cost for the rainwater system was R$ 17,6.615.56. ; tTherefore, the payback period was estimated as being 4 years and 10 months, indicating . Thus, from the analysis performed it is possible to observeresults showed that such athis system for of rainwater harvesting is economically feasible viablefor the school investigated as the payback period is somewhat relatively short and the potable water savings are high.Downloads
