The technological development of conventional materials is considered an innovation when it enhances performance. This article examines the modification of bedding mortar with polymers to improve its properties. This study evaluates industrialized mortars modified with styrene-acrylic copolymers and vinyl acetate polymer. The methodology involved an experimental study of five mortar mixes: reference, 4% addition and 4% substitution of styrene-acrylic, 5% addition of vinyl acetate, and 8% substitution of styrene-acrylic. Tests were conducted in both fresh and hardened states, in addition to scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. The mixture BA - substitution showed the highest gain in tensile and compressive strength, and the highest transverse deformation, indicating greater flexibility. It is concluded that the mortars with addition and replacement of styrene-acrylic copolymer showed the best results, indicating increased flexibility.
