The search for sustainability in construction encourages project strategies, one of the main ones being the circular economy. Within the circular economy, some methodologies can be observed, with the focus of this article being to evaluate how the project for disassembly and the project for deconstruction can support the circular economy in construction. To achieve this objective, a quantitative and qualitative methodology was used, through a systematic literature review. From a quantitative point of view, the countries, journals and year of publication of the works were verified. Regarding qualitative analysis, a content analysis was carried out on articles published between 2019 and 2023, in which it was analyzed that the project for disassembly and deconstruction are two of the main tools of the circular economy to provide the direct reuse of construction components, avoiding dumping waste, and preserving the carbon incorporated into products. Furthermore, as a contribution of the article to scientific advancement in the area, a SWOT matrix was created to evaluate the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to the process, aiming to popularize the project for disassembly and deconstruction as a tool to achieve circular construction.
