Psychological violence against women: a decolonial proposal for rupture

This study investigates how a decolonial perspective can contribute to breaking the cycle of psychological violence experienced by women in situations of domestic and family violence. It seeks to understand the subjective processes that influence their autonomy. It analyzes how legal practices can be reinterpreted, notably the Maria da Penha Law. The theoretical framework addresses the coloniality of gender, with an emphasis on understanding psychological violence against women, in addition to critical theories of hegemonic feminism, proposing decolonial alternatives to promote structural changes. The methodology adopted includes a qualitative approach, based on multiple experiences of women in a reflective group held at a Women's Protection Police Station. The collection and analysis were carried out through narratives shared by the participants. The results obtained reveal the meanings of female subjectivation, based on patriarchal and colonial norms that sustain psychological violence.
