Where to Escape to? Fragments of the 2024 Floods in Rio Grande do Sul

The floods of May 2024 in Rio Grande do Sul brought immeasurable ecological, social, and subjective impacts to our state, constituting a catastrophe. This essayistic article aims to conduct a documentary analysis through the narrative of the events of May that took place in the city of Porto Alegre. The methodology involves an analysis of media production during the flood period, photographs taken by the authors, and a fictional account that captures shared experiences shared by many of those affected. In this context, testimony serves as one of the guiding axes in this process, seeking to historicize the events while continuously provoking debate and generating questions.
