A racialized analysis of the child and adolescent rights guarantee system

The present essay aims to provide a racialized analysis of the Child and Adolescent Rights Guarantee System in Brazil, highlighting coloniality as one of the driving forces that contribute to maintaining whiteness in a position of privilege and domination in the modern-colonial society we are embedded in. For this analysis, a history-device is presented, encompassing issues related to race, class, and power, which shed light on the structural inequalities and violence present within state apparatuses. Finally, the urgent need to racialize the debate on Brazilian public policies is discussed, particularly through the racialization of whiteness, as an exercise to dismantle the racist logics that permeate the established practices in contemporary society.
