La Niña Ancestral: Práticas Coloniais e Dispositivos de Temporalidade

Starting from the story of a child of the Aché people, this essay analyzes articulations between colonial practices and temporality devices in the production and marking of difference. The archive of this problematization is constituted by a documentary film — in argument of political and cultural reparation of Amerindian peoples of the global south — and medical-anthropological publications of the passage from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. Producing ethical-epistemological and methodological arrangements supported by the decolonial critique present in queer and intersectional feminist studies, we infer the inseparability of the markers of gender, age, raciality, and sexuality, taking the arrows of a linear temporality as the main axis. On the contrary, the notions of memory and ancestry bring us closer to the establishment of a spiral temporality in whose folds may rest the refusal to modernization projects and scientific objectification, pointing to resistance processes in different relationships with life and death.
