Focus and Scope

Scope, policy and structure

The proposal of the journal Polis e Psique is to publish original articles in the field of Psychology, discussing issues of subjectivation policies, cognition, technology of contemporary society, in order to contribute to the production of knowledge and interventions. Polis e Psique publishes research reports, theoretical studies, professional experience reports, book reviews and interviews. The journal will feature the following sections:

Articles (15-25 pages): reports of original research or theoretical assays within the topics encompassed by the journal scope.

Professional Experience Reports (15-20 pages): research or professional experience reports with evidences methodologically appropriate; texts describing new methods or interventions will also be considered for evaluation.

Book Reviews (5-10 pages): critical review of a recently published book, offering to the reader the information on its characteristics, its uses and potential contributions.

Interviews (5-10 pages): interview with authors, researchers and authorities in the academic, political, social and cultural atmospheres, with potential to provide significant contributions in their areas of competence and work.

The journal publishes twice a year with the addition of a thematic issue per year. Twelve original articles by volume will be published, may including professional experience reports, book reviews and interviews of national and foreign authors. Each issue will comprise publications from a minimum of two countries, five Brazilian States and eight institutions.

Annually, there will be only one publication by main author.

The thematic issue will have a guest editor, following the same scope, politics and structure of the regular issues.

Peer Review Process

Texts electronically received in accordance with the standards of the journal and considered as potentially publishable by Polis e Psique, will be forward by the editor to the Associate Editors or ad hoc reviewers. Associate Editors will evaluate the material in their area of knowledge and, then, forward it to the peer review Advisors.

The ad hoc reviewers may recommend to the editors the acceptance of the manuscript without modification, acceptance conditioned to modification, or not recommend the manuscript for publication. The revision process will be processed in double blind review system, with identification of reviewers and authors not provided. However, the authors will have access to the copies of the ad hoc evaluations, containing the position of the reviewers who based the final recommendation.

Reformulated versions will be evaluated by the Editorial Board, which may request as many changes as necessary for final acceptance of the manuscript. The final decision on publication of an article will be always in charge of the Editors. The identification of the authors may be informed to the Editorial Board.

Authors will be able to follow all the stages of the editorial process through the Internet by connecting to the system SEER.

In the last issue of each year Polis e Psique will publish the names of the reviewers who performed evaluations in that period, however, without specifying which texts were analyzed individually.

Prior sending the manuscript to print, the Editor will send a graphic proof of the authors for the final revision process, which should be performed in five days, returning it to the journal. If the authors do not indicate corrections along the text, the manuscript will be published according to original proof. Authors whose manuscripts were accepted should send, via email, a letter with the copyright transfer agreement to the journal, signed by all. Additionally, it is requested at this stage, by the authors of research reports, a copy of the approval by a research ethics committee of the corresponding project, when it is pertinent.

The opinions expressed by the reviewers will provide arguments that may suggest approval of publication without changes, approval with suggestions of modification, or do not recommend the publication. An acknowledgment list, stating the ad hoc consultants, will be published annually. Manuscripts with modifications suggested accomplished will be evaluated by the editorial board members, which will state the final decision, may including the request of additional reformulations. The authors will be informed about the ongoing of all the stages of their manuscripts. The Editorial Board reserves itself the right to make minor changes in the body of the manuscript to expedite the editorial process.
