Abstract

The text that follows is an itinerary to highlight a conceptual relationship between hospitality, memory and polyphony, contributing to the creation of an analytical model. The itinerary is proposed as being part of the grammar of the human being as social, crossed by decolonial theory, whose maturation provides the opportunity for this step towards the concept. The proposal is an attempt to expand an unconditional ethics of hospitality towards an ontology of transience. The essay starts from a characterization of modernity as a denial of hospitality and an acceleration, tensioned by the condition of excluded guests. Next, considering those excluded in official discourses, also as resisters who organize themselves in memory, from the point of view of existence and the systematic recovery of the validity and urgency of their experience. From this arises the urgency of highlighting polyphony as a specific texture of this recovery. In addition to its score, also its consequent attempt at institutionalization, mediated by appropriate methodologies, based on qualified listening to human flows. The possible corollary of the text is to offer a polyphonic conception of the expression of humanity as a delicately ontological value. Gently, as it depends on memory. Ontological, because it crosses a possible humanity.
