This study aims to analyze the application of archival requirements to produce electronic records by a business information system. It is understood that the goal is not to transform every business system into an archival management system, but rather to adapt it to produce electronic records. Regarding the methodology, this study is of an applied nature, as it deals with a practical application - the electronic record. It adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, seeking to evaluate how Archival Science can promote the production of authentic and reliable electronic records by the business system. To achieve this, technical procedures include bibliographic research based on already published material, such as books, journal articles, and internet resources. Preference is given to sources addressing the implementation of electronic records. Documentary research sources, including laws and regulations issued by both the federal government and the National Archives Council, related to Records Management, were also examined. It was evaluated as an example, the SiGA system of Federal University of Minas Gerais, specifically the production of the digital graduation diploma. Based on the results, there is a clear need for archivists to update their theoretical and practical knowledge in digital technology, as well as to take a more proactive role in software development to produce electronic records. Furthermore, Diplomatic undoubtedly emerges as an area that can support archivists in this task.
