Aims to identify the main authors and thematic axes associated with studies on serendipity in Information Science. To achieve this goal, a bibliographic search was conducted on Web of Science and the Base de Dados em Ciência da Informação. Fifty-three documents were retrieved and analyzed. The VOSviewer software was used to generate the co-authorship network and the keyword co-occurrence network, both of which were analyzed using Social Network Analysis. The results show that in Information Science, serendipity has been addressed in the context of information behavior, information seeking, information acquisition, and often associated with information discovery, but there are studies that address this phenomenon in other contexts. In the final considerations, it is suggested that in the national literature in Information Science, when the concept of serendipity is approached as an experience of information discovery, the terms “infoserendipity” or “informational serendipity” be used.
