Abstract

The state of the art is a type of documentary research, which allows understanding the approach to knowledge regarding a given topic and developing a study based on what has been published in a specific area of interest. This article discusses the state of the art in scientific production regarding conceptual models in the museological field, delimited within the scope of searches indexed in the Scopus database. As a methodology, it uses bibliometric studies, identifying the most covered topics, the keywords used, the researchers who are discussing the subject, and authorial collaboration. The research has a time frame of the period 2016-2021. The searches were carried out using three fundamental strategies: “Museum Data Modeling”, “Museum's Conceptual Models” and “CIDOC”. A total of 571 documents indexed in the Scopus database were analyzed. Among the most covered subjects, those dedicated to cultural heritage, museums, ontologies, semantic web, and metadata stand out. The results allow us to obtain a conceptual theoretical framework for the representation of art collections.
