Internet of things in libraries

Libraries are information units that are constantly adopting new technological resources to improve the quality of their offer of products and services. Currently, a prominent technology is the internet of things, which promises major changes in society by providing greater integration between the physical and digital worlds. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the possibility of implementing IoT in a university library by investigating the demands of users that could be addressed through this technology. It is an applied research, characterized as exploratory and descriptive. The methodology adopted is a case study at the University Library of the University of Lavras, based on requirements engineering and design thinking. The final result is the idealization of a noise monitoring system, based on IoT, whose purpose is to contribute to the maintenance of silence in the study areas and the use of noise as a data to support the library management.Downloads
