The use of fragmented social network as a reference source in Lifestreaming practice

Abstract

This article aims to define the term lifestreaming. It is a process in which the combination and sharing of information occur regarding periodical personal achievements on Web in a space where they are displayed in chronological order, with the most recent always at the top of the screen. These personal achievements are related to actions taken on social networking sites. In this article we seek to link the sharing of information on lifestreaming process and the characteristics of the postmodern subject. A case study of the environment friendfeed is held in order to illustrate how a lifestreaming aggregator can become an alternative source of online references.

Sandra Bordini Mazzocato, UFRGS

possui graduação em Comunicação Social Publicidade e Propaganda pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2005) e mestrado em Comunicação e Informação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2009) . Atualmente é Designer de Interface da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Tem experiência na área de Comunicação , com ênfase em Cibercultura. Atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: lifestreaming, Friendfeed, Expressão Pessoal no Ciberespaço, Web 2.0, Sujeito Pós-moderno.
