Abstract

Urbanity and Gender: what displaces a walking body? – This article explores the relation between body and urban displacement from an intersectional feminist perspective. Based on recent studies on urbanity and gender – feminisms, art and public space – we will analyze modern and contemporary artistic practices in the city, considering the friction between gendered bodies and the city. The aim is to discuss the displacement that certain bodies establish when walking freely through the urban space.

Author Biography

Sofia Rodrigues Boito, Universidade de São Paulo – USP

Sofia Rodrigues Boito é atriz, performer, dramaturga e pesquisadora. Doutora e mestre em Artes Cênicas pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), onde também foi professora substituta. Realizou um ano de sua pesquisa de doutorado na Sor-bonne Nouvelle (Paris 3). Interessada em processos performativos e práticas não hegemônicas, tenta estabelecer uma investigação teórico-prática encarnada. Atu-almente integra a coletiva artística Palabreria, a comissão editorial da revista Sala Preta e a rede de artistas feministas Room to Bloom (European Alternatives).
