Abstract

Originating from an investigation in the field of dance pedagogy, the article starts from a mapping of contemporary scientific research on ballroom dancing that problematizes the actions of leading and letting oneself be led, with a view to promoting theoretical dialogue with researchers who defend the practice and the teaching of traditional ballroom dances, in order to overcome the gender binarisms characteristic of this sociocultural manifestation. The guiding idea of ​​the text is that the qualified debate on dance pedagogies, especially in relation to the categories of gender and sexuality, contribute to the transformation of the ballroom dancing environment into a more accessible and plural place.

Robson Teixeira Porto, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS, Porto Alegre/RS, Brasil

Robson Teixeira Porto é doutorando em Artes Cênicas na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul  (UFRGS), Mestre em Educação em Ciências na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG), Especialista em Artes na Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPEL), Licenciado em Dança (UFPel) e Licenciado em Matemática (FURG). Atua como professor substituto no Curso de DançaLicenciatura (UFPEL) e como tutor EaD no Curso de Especialização em Artes EaD (UFPEL). Além disso, dirige a Cia. de Dança de Salão Robson Porto e atua como professor de Dança em espaços não formais de ensino.

Vera Lúcia Bertoni dos Santos é professora Titular e pesquisadora vinculada ao Departamento de Arte Dramática (DAD) e Docente Permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Cênicas (PPGAC) do Instituto de Artes da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Doutora e Mestre em Educação pela UFRGS, Licenciada em Educação Artística com Habilitação em Artes e Bacharel em Artes Cênicas com Habilitação em Artes Cênicas, ambos pela UFRGS. Atriz de teatro.
