Ethnic-Racial Relations in the Brazilian Journal on Presence Studies:
advances, erasures, and silencings

This text presents an analysis on the theme of ethnic-racial relations and some of its crossings, such as racism, identity, exclusion, Black culture and arts, based on the texts published by the Brazilian Journal on Presence Studies over its 15 years of publication. The discussion aimed to highlight how the journal has addressed this task in connection with contemporary debates, theorization, confrontations, and struggles on the topic. The problematization was developed from the concepts of identity and racism through the thought of Sueli Carneiro, Grada Kilomba, Achille Mbembe, and Frantz Fanon. It is inferred that academic productions that address ethnic-racial relations can play a crucial role in both the reproduction and the combat against racism.
