Intexto Journal – Thematic Section – 30 Years of PPGCOM/UFRGS
Intexto journal invites researchers in the field to submit articles for the thematic section "30 Years of PPGCOM/UFRGS."
On August 15, 1995, the Postgraduate Program in Communication at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) was officially established. In 1997, the program launched its first academic journal, Intexto, which has been active without interruption ever since.
In 2024, PPGCOM restructured its research lines, which are now designated as: “LP1 – Languages and communication technologies” and “LP2 – Power relations and cultural practices” These perspectives and concepts guide the present Call for Papers.
We invite researchers to submit articles presenting Communication studies of a theoretical and methodological nature, applied to communication processes, products, and practices with emphasis on the following themes:
- Cultural-communicational relationships established through languages and technologies
- Cultural-communicational relationships focusing on meanings, narratives, images, imagery, audiovisual media, media, information and misinformation
- Cultural-communicational relationships in phenomena emerging from the interrelationships between communication, cultures, and languages in various contexts
- Power relations and communication within society
- Cultural practices focusing on circulation, reception, consumption, uses, and appropriations of communicational artifacts
- Power relations and cultural practices in communication, with developments related to hierarchies and vulnerabilities
- Power relations and cultural practices in contemporary social phenomena

- First call announcement: August 7, 2025
- Submission deadline: October 31, 2025 [EXTENDED UNTIL November 15, 2025]
