Prof. Nadine, Prof. Poli de Figueiredo, Prof. Lúcia, Prof. Ana Maria, and Prof. Ricardo, thank you for honoring the Scientific Week with your presence at this opening ceremony. Dear colleagues from the executive board, professors, collaborators, undergraduate and graduate students, and researchers. Welcome everyone.
This ceremony marks the opening of our largest scientific event, an annual forum to showcase the research we conduct daily here and to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and professionals from our institution and from other institutions in Porto Alegre and the state. For 43 years, we have been gathering continuously to promote research and scientific cooperation, motivate young researchers, reflect on our role as producers of knowledge in society, and seek solutions to the constant and multiple challenges we face to keep the interest in research alive among young people, to keep research vibrant in our institutions, and to transform the results of our research into products and concrete actions for the community.
