Abstract

This article presents the results of a study carried out in a basic school of Madrid,
that aimed to verify what kind of teacher/pupil interaction predominated in everyday life of classrooms frequented by gypsies children. I observed that teachers' ethnics prejudices incite them to neglect the gypsies' intelectual capacity. This fact interfered in learning process of these students, contributing to their scholastic under-achievement and generated acts of students' and families' contestation against school. In the course of the text I discuss the relationship between cultural domination and resistance against domination, suggesting aspects may be deepened in other works.
