Drosophila melanogaster has been the subject of several studies in history, philosophy, sociology, and teaching of biology, evidencing the relevant role it has played as a model organism for experimental practices in genetics and other areas. However, these works are not usually closely intertwined. Therefore, this article intends to contribute to the establishment of links between these areas, understanding the fly as a point of convergence. From this perspective, it proposes to broaden the view on the nature of science, which is an important reference for teachers to make biology teaching more complex.
