This article aims to reflect on studies of information practices in basic education from the students' perspective and, based on these studies, interpret them in light of the practice architecture, investigating the role of the school as a mediating space in the formation of informational subjects. This research is exploratory in nature, with a qualitative approach, and uses a bibliographic review in the Databases Information Science, Scientific Electronic Library Online and Capes Journal Portal databases as its methodological procedure, resulting in the selection of five studies for critical analysis. The materials were selected because they present the thematic focus intended for this discussion: basic education, students, and informational practices, as well as relevant, current dimensions in different perspectives of informational practices in the school context, in a way that they complement each other and allow for a holistic view of the investigated phenomenon. It is concluded that informational practices can be analyzed, understood, and transformed within the school context, from the perspective of practice architecture - cultural-discursive, material-economic, and sociopolitical - which can either favor or limit the development of information practices. Thus, the school, as a mediating instance, can intervene in these arrangements in order to contribute to providing effective support in knowledge construction and in the formation of the student as a competent informational subject.
