Los estudios sobre discapacidad en la producción académica
una cartografía del escenario del Norte global

¿Cuál sería el lugar de los estudios sobre discapacidad en la práctica científica contemporánea? ¿Hasta qué punto la circulación de investigaciones que cuestionan las ontologías capacitistas y posicionan la discapacidad como un marcador social relevante para comprender las diferentes formas de borrado y opresión social podría estar impulsando nuevas agendas de investigación? A partir de un mapeo de 2.864 documentos registrados en las bases de datos Scopus y Web of Science entre los años 1956 y 2020, este artículo busca describir las tendencias generales de la producción y la estructura intelectual de los estudios sobre discapacidad durante las últimas siete décadas. El propósito es ofrecer un mapa actualizado de los principales medios de publicación, autores, repertorios teóricos, enfoques heurísticos y temas políticos que compiten por la visibilidad en el escenario internacional de producción de conocimiento sobre discapacidad. Esta investigación sugiere que la discapacidad es una categoría analítica y política que participa en la coproducción de diferentes modelos de interpretación y construcción de la vida de las personas con discapacidad.
