Abstract

This research analyses the applicable attributes for information quality assessment in intranet environment supporting knowledge management in software development companies. It was adopted a qualitative research method using a multiple case study in three software development companies located in Brazil. In the first phase, it was identified 9 primary
attributes (precision, clarity, relevancy, credibility, completeness, actuality, timing, presentation and concision), considered more relevant for information quality assessment within the research context and 17 secondary attributes that had some restrictions according to the specialists’ analysis. In the second phase, it was confirmed the attributes accepted by the specialists and included other attributes that received some restrictions from the specialists. The intranet users analysis resulted in a set of 9 attributes of the information quality suggested as applicable in the Intranet environment was identified to support the knowledge
management in companies of software development (precision, clarity, relevancy, credibility, completeness, actuality, timing, source and order). The information quality evaluation was considered important to improve the information credibility and to obtain benefits using this information to support the software development process. It was identified that, there is a relationship among the selected attributes. For example, it is observed that the credibility is the result of the evaluation of all attributes.
