About the Journal
The Brazilian Journal of African Studies (BJAS) is a biannual, bilingual (Portuguese and English) digital publication of the Brazilian Center for African Studies (CEBRAFRICA). With a Qualis Capes A4 rating, the BJAS publishes scientific articles on Africa's International Relations. Original research or review articles with emphasis on Foreign Policy of African countries, International Cooperation, Integration Organizations, Security and Defense, Political Systems, Economic Development, Social Structures, Currents of Thought, as well as historical and geopolitical processes that address the international dimension of African events fall within the scope of the Journal. The BJAS is a strictly academic publication of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, without any governmental or foreign foundation affiliations.
BJAS' target audience includes researchers, teachers, and students interested in the specificities of the African continent and its international relations. The journal also aims to broaden the debate on Brazil's projection and its cooperation efforts (including in Defense) with African countries bordering the South Atlantic, and the construction of a regional identity in the face of geopolitical transformations.
Thus, we look forward to contributions from colleagues in Brazil and abroad, scholars of Contemporary Africa, with whom we aim to establish links to deepen knowledge and build a Southern perspective on the African continent and its International Relations.
