Este artigo propõe uma reflexão dialogada sobre o legado do teatro laboratorial a partir das experiências do Workcentre de Jerzy Grotowski e Thomas Richards, do Odin Teatret de Eugenio Barba e do LUME Teatro da Unicamp. Com base nas edições especiais da Revista Brasileira de Estudos da Presença (especialmente os números dedicados a Grotowski, Odin Teatret e Lume Teatro e o Laboratórios em Fluxo), discute-se como essas práticas enfatizam o encontro consigo mesmo, com o outro e com a alteridade cultural. Reflete-se também sobre a atualidade dessas abordagens ante as urgências contemporâneas e o desafio de continuidade desses processos diante do imediatismo imposto pelas lógicas neoliberais.
