Abstract

The article discusses the meanings that young people from peripheral neighborhoods attribute to their theater studying experience marked by popular education and popular culture in an educational institution in Belo Horizonte. Highlighting the presence of diversity, collectivity and political agendas in their studying, young people point out social awareness as a significant impact of this process. The theatrical artistic-pedagogical experience was configured as a space for socialization, positivation of subaltern young people’s identities and contributed to their emancipation processes as social subjects.

Author Biography

Júlia Camargos, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG

Pesquisadora, professora, atriz e diretora de teatro. Sua pesquisa é voltada para o ensino do teatro em uma perspectiva emancipadora, envolvendo estudos sobre gênero e decolonialidade. Professora do Curso Técnico em Teatro do Centro Interescolar de Cultura, Arte, Linguagens e Tecnologias - Cicalt / Valores de Minas. Integra o Coletivo Mulheres Encenadoras estabelecido em Belo Horizonte. Mestra em Educação, com pesquisa associada à linha de pesquisa Educação, Cultura, Movimentos Sociais e Ações Coletivas, pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação: Conhecimento e Inclusão Social da FaE/UFMG (2020), reconhecido pela CAPES como um programa de excelência (PROEX, nota 7). É graduada em Teatro, com habilitação em Licenciatura pela UFMG (2015), formada na pós-graduação em Gestão de Projetos Culturais pela PUC Minas (2016) e no Curso Técnico profissionalizante de Formação de ator do Teatro Universitário da UFMG (2012). Foi professora substituta no Curso Técnico em Teatro do Centro de Formação Artística e Tecnológica - Cefart (2020). Trabalhou como atriz e/ou diretora em diferentes espetáculos e coletivos, entre eles: Teatro que fica (Coletivo Depois da Sexta), A Farsa do Bom Juiz (Coletivo Mamãe tá na Plateia), Lisístrata (dir. Lee Beagley), Pequenos Romances (espetáculo de formatura do T.U. / dir. Tarcisio Ramos) e Suave (In)Pura Brancura (Coletivo [entre] Teatro Dança / dir. Rafael Lucas Bacelar). Tem experiência na área de Artes, com ênfase em Teatro, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Atuação, Improvisação, Direção, Preparação Vocal, Formação de Atores e Atrizes e Pedagogia Teatral.
