Hyperreality versus seduction: the paradox of Big Brother Brasil
Keywords:
Reality show. Hyperreality. Communication.Abstract
In this article, we turned Baudrillard against himself in the analysis of the TV show Big Brother Brasil (BBB). First, we developed the affirmation, made by the theorist himself, that this reality show reveals the trivial condition characteristic of hyperreality. Next, we propose to overturn the initial argument by pointing the presence of a seductive power. Primarily, we not only revise some of the basic concepts of the French author’s theory, but also show the path that led to the ascent and decline of the modern perception of reality.Downloads
