Abstract

The Diablos Quizadeños Nueva Generación are a group of young people and children from El Quizá, Guerrero; an Afro-Indo-Mexican community belonging to the region known as Costa Chica, on the southern Pacific coast. This group is deeply rooted in the Danza de los Diablos (“Dance of the Devils”), a tradition that was lost a few years ago after the death of Mr. Bruno Morgan. The love that they feel for the dance has led them to organize and rehearse once again. Thus, they create their masks and costumes of Devils or Minga, so that on the Day of the Dead, they are ready to dance, as it has always been done for many generations, visiting the houses of the village and heading to the cemetery to dance for their departed.
