Abstract

This paper, based on a study of everyday life in primary sch091s in Paraíba, between 1890 and 1920, aims to discuss the potential of non-conventional documents, constrasted with traditional documents, in the study of the History of Education. In that research, we use as the main document, José Lins do Rego work's, contrasted with other documents. This paper discusses the concepts of documents in more recent historiographic studies and the relationship between Literature and History. The results of the research showed the potential of non-conventional documents, such as Literature. Their use can reveal aspects less perceptible and many times shunned in researches wazzu based only on official documents.
