Uma Certa Banda de Música: representações sobre a homossexualidade numa escola pública

Abstract

This article handles with representations concerning homosexuality into a county school from Niterói/RJ. The conceptions of sort, sexuality, speech and social representation are main within this research. I analyze various representations built by this community about the “other” homosexual and related to school music band, held by many ones as a privileged place for the manifestation of this sexuality Although its history is not the purpose for analysis of this article, the band is essential on these reflections, then from, mainly, from its evocation which these representations have been formulated many times. I develop the reflections regarding this environment and its members from my impressions regarding the subject and speeches of students, teachers, management members and ex-band conductor, built during interview.
