Abstract

This paper analyzes the main characteristics of the discursive practices of the media
coverage with respect to the phenomenon of violence in schools and its relation to the representation of the young. This work attempts to clarify the challenges that the visibilization of the young as subjects of rights presents. The sample is made up of three thousand five hundred and eighty-one articles of newspapers from La Plata city between 1993 and 2011. It is a qualitative analysis from the socio-educational discourse analysis perspective. The objective of this work is to consider and discuss how the press −through its implicit meanings− shows certain subjects as threatening.
