The Teaching of Sociology as an Epistemological and Sociological Problem

This article aims to discuss the teaching of sociology as
epistemological and sociological problem, noting a comparison between France and Brazil. It analyzes the process of constitution of sociology as a science and as a discipline, as well as the production and circulation of sociological knowledge. It is postulated that the lack of legitimacy of the discipline and its social recognition is the old problem of defining its goals
(social function) and its place in the social formation and education of the individual and critical citizenship. In fact, the teaching of sociology reveals itself as a social and political problem.
