Keeping and collecting are experiences lived both in memory and in history. This article looks at the passion for keeping, materialized in a collection of eight notebooks of literary reading produced between 1960 and 1970, by a teacher in training, and kept in a personal archive. The notebooks under study record excerpts of books read, copies of sentences and comments on the reading done and, bring evidence of a memorial record about that time. These materials are considered ego-documents, and depositories of a formative past common to a generation of young teachers and their relationship with literary reading The methodology details the authors most read, the date of the readings based on copied and collected excerpts. We conclude that the passion for keeping may generate collecting and that these materials form an educational memorabiliawhich, due to its production conditions in the school environment, can be considered as an educational historical heritage.
