O Asilo Santa Leopoldina de Niterói e uma ação público-religiosa pela educação feminina (1850-1878)

Abstract

The clashes around the creation, maintenance and administration of the Asylum Santa Leopoldina of Niterói, institution created by provincial decree in 1850, are propitious to think the disputes around the education of poor girls. From the creation of the Asylum, through its administration by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary until their departure and handing over to the Sisters of Charity, it is possible to observe the relations between conservative and liberal politicians and between Church and State. The study was based on the reports of the presidents of the Province of Rio de Janeiro, on periodicals of the period and on documentation of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It consisted in analysis of the sources supported by bibliography, trying to highlight the temporality of the constitution of the asyltic institution under the point of view of education and schooling.

Marco Aurélio Corrêa Martins, Professor Adjunto Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro - UNIRIO

Pedagogoa. Professor de filosofia. Mestrado e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (2013). Tem atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: história da educação, pensamento educacional, pensamento religioso na educação.

Paula Leonardi, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro

Paula Leonardi é graduada em Pedagogia pela UNESP- Rio Claro; mestre em Educação pela Faculdade de Educação UNICAMP (bolsista FAPESP); doutora em Educação pela área História da Educação e Historiografia da Faculdade de Educação USP (2008), com período de estágio no exterior na École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (bolsista CAPES); pós-doutora em História da Educação e Historiografia pela Faculdade de Educação USP (2011), com bolsa FAPESP. É professora da Faculdade de Educação da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação (Proped/UERJ) e pesquisadora dos grupos Focus (Grupo de Pesquisa sobre Educação, Instituições e Desigualdade, FE, Unicamp) e GEHER (Grupo de Estudos História da Educação e Religião - núcleo Rio de Janeiro, Edu, UERJ). Atuou como professora convidada na Universidade Bordeaux Montaigne entre dezembro de 2019 e maio de 2020, com financiamento Capes Print. É bolsista Jovem Cientista do Nosso Estado (Faperj) e Prociência. Compõe a diretoria da Sociedade Brasileira de História da Educação na representação Sudeste. É editora da Revista Teias e membro do Conselho Editorial das revistas Caedu e Pensar a Educação em Revista. Tem experiência docente na área de Educação, com ênfase em História da Educação, concentrando seus trabalhos docentes e de pesquisa em torno dos seguintes eixos: educação e cultura, memória, religião e educação.
