The bulk density of the sand as a parameter for the analysis of mortar properties

This study emphasizes the importance of the bulk density of the sand in the evaluation of its properties of fresh and hardened mortar. This paper analyzes experimental data of the study performed by TRISTÃO (1995) and shows that increasing values of the sand bulk density lead to an increase in the elastic modulus and the compressive and tensile splitting strength, while producing a decrease in the binder consumption, voids volume, and the water-to-cement ratioDownloads
