A group listening setting for post-COVID-19 hospitalization patients

This study presents an experience report on the implementation of a group listening setting for individuals
who underwent hospitalization in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to COVID-19. Through the creation of a
listening space, reflections were made on the psychological effects associated with this extreme experience,
intertwined with the social and political repercussions of the pandemic. The methodological proposal
was characterized as an intervention-research approach, guided by psychoanalysis and committed to the
sociopolitical implications of suffering. The group demonstrated its potential as a clinical-political device
oriented towards listening and bearing witness in the face of crises and disasters. Mental health care was
fostered through the sharing of personal narratives, offering support to individuals victimized by the COVID-19
pandemic. The social and political relevance of this topic is underscored by the documentation of subjective
experiences during such a traumatic moment for humanity, in which many lives were reified and forgotten.
